Arius QV - “Alfie”

A hunter/jumper in his prime, Alfie is using his wisdom to help teach beginners the basics on how to ride. Although one of our largest lesson horses, Alfie is gentle and good natured, patient and kind.  He is known for his ability to 'read the room' and know how much (or how little) he needs to do to keep his beginners feeling safe. 

Royally pedigreed, Alfie is sired by Oxford, a proven sire known for passing on his exceptional temperament and athleticism.  Oxford won numerous championships in both the hunter and jumper rings, including the 2009 FEQ Combined Working Hunter.  Oxford was the Vermont Summer Festival Open Working Hunter Champion twice and was also a Level 5 jumper champion of Nova Scotia.  Oxford was the product of the Landgraf I son Burggraaf and a Voltaire daughter.  Burggraaf is known for producing top level show jumpers and dressage horses with excellent temperaments.  Voltaire was known for his impressive international career and exceptional progeny and his legacy is cemented in history as one of the most succesful show jumping sires of all time.  Alfie's dam was sired by the Grand Prix show jumping stallion Novalis, a son of the legendary Jus De Pomme - famous for winning double Olympic Gold at the 1996 Atlanta Games.  Her damline was Cor De La Breyere through his son Caracas, who had countless successes at the top level of international show jumping.
