The stalls are constructed of quality materials and the footing is packed crushed limestone with stall mats. Stalls are bedded with quality bagged medium flake shavings for superior dust control, comfort, and absorbtion. Each horse has their hay in nets to mimic natural and continuous foraging, preventing many digestion issues. By allowing for constant access to hay, we can do our best to prevent gastric ulcers and colic. For horses who need an extra close eye on their feed intake, hay nets allow us to manage their weight better while also reducing stress and boredom in our stall rest horses. Plus, the hay we save by using more efficient hay nets helps us keep costs down for owners.
Our heated indoor riding arena measures 80’ wide by 160’ long, which accommodates both hunter/jumper courses as well as a small competition dressage arena. Lots of natural light comes in the windows along the long and short side. The arena's viewing area is equipped with seating as well as a large blackboard for your instructor to explain concepts visually when needed. An audio system also feeds the arena, with wireless microphone capability for riders who are hearing impaired or simply to enjoy some music while you are riding. The space is brightly lit, well ventilated and clean.
The footing in our arena is angular washed sand mixed with finely shredded rubber providing excellent shock absorbtion, support and traction that promotes soundness and good performance. Poor footing can lead to joint pain, tendon or ligament injuries, or contribute to falls. Whether our horses are packing around beginners or jumping a course, preventing these injuries and keeping you as safe as possible is important to us. Our footing is also treated with quality, safe magnesium chloride to eliminate dust and keep you and your horse breathing freely. We have obstacles of all kindsl including jumps, pedestals, barrels and many other toys to play with and make your rides more fun and interesting.
Our large outdoor riding arena measures 66' wide by 300' long, accomodating a large dressage ring plus warm-up area. The angular washed sand footing has superior drainage, excellent traction and good support. The arena is flanked by our patio, where guests can observe lessons or training sessions. The trees offer comfortable shade on the sunniest of summer days. You can ride a dressage test or jump a course on the front half of the arena, or go have some fun on the far end of the arena in our new playground, which is expected to be completed summer 2026. The playground will feature a large water feature with jumps in and out, a bridge, and many other fun obstacles for groundwork or riding. The obstacles are designed to mimic natural features such as logs, hills and ditches to help prepare horses and riders for life outside the arena.
Open the gate! They say the grass is greener on the other side, and we couldn't agree more. Windfall sits atop a beautiful property, with wooded trails that wind their way through the forest, up and down hills, past the ponds, and over some of our natural obstacles you might find along the way. Covering most of the 38 acre property, you can easily go out for an hour or two while keeping the scenery fresh. The diverse scenery provides the perfect mix of challenge and natural beauty and is separate from hikers, bikers and traffic. Want to keep going? Ride any of our Minnesota State Park horse trails located within a 15 minute drive of Windfall Equestrian Center.

At the heart of our horse's dietary needs is our neat and organized feed room. We take your horse's nutrition seriously, and work with our local representatives at Purina animal nutrition as well as industry experts to ensure that your horse has the best diet possible. Our feed room has excellent ventilation with sealed containers for open feed, and is only accessible to employees. Does your horse need a feed supplement or daily medication? No problem. Our structured system ensures that every horse gets everything they need at every feeding. With Smartpak, we can have your horse's supplements shipped directly to the barn so you never have to fill baggies with messy feed additives. You can leave everything to us and rest assured everything is done right.
We have many different sizes of paddocks and pastures to accommodate the needs of all our horses. Pasture and paddocks are secured with No-Climb Fencing, which is recognized worldwide by stable managers, breeders, veterinarians and horse owners as one of the safest options for horses. The mesh weave protects hooves or legs from becoming caught in the fence, flexing on impact and preventing breakage or injuries to the horse. The 14-gauge quality galvanized wire with durable zinc coating resists wear and ensures a safe fence that lasts and requires little to no maintenance. That means no more broken boards, nails, or sharp edges that may cause injury to your horse.
For horses coming for short-term training or for clinics and special events, we have a second, smaller barn which also serves as a quarantine area. This non-heated barn has four 12 x 12 box stalls with dutch doors.
